One of my favorite perks of premium travel rewards credit cards is lounge access. I always enjoy stepping away from the noise of the terminal to relax, grab a bite, and ease into my trip.
From American Express Centurion Lounges to Chase Sapphire Lounges and Capital One Lounges to Priority Pass Lounges, these spaces offer a welcome break and a taste of comfort before takeoff.
Recently, Capital One introduced something new – and it is a game changer.
The Capital One Landing reimagines the airport lounge experience with a focus on fine dining rather than traditional self-serve buffets and crowded seating areas.
I first visited the Capital One Landing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) during a trip to Boston and was immediately impressed.
On my second visit – this time on my way to Nashville – I had the chance to enjoy the lounge again, along with the Capital One Landing “On the Fly” option to grab food quickly before boarding.
Both visits confirm what I already suspected.
Let me get straight to the point: this is the best lounge experience available through any U.S. credit card.
The environment feels like a high-end restaurant, offering exceptional food, attentive service, and a peaceful atmosphere.
Capital One has set a new bar – and I am excited to share exactly what makes this space so special.
Location And Access (7/10)

The Capital One Landing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) sits in Terminal 2. This terminal serves major airlines like American Airlines, Delta, United, JetBlue, and Alaska Airlines.
If you are flying with Southwest, Frontier, or Air Canada, keep in mind that you will need to exit Terminal 1, re-clear security, and enter Terminal 2 to access this lounge.
That process can be inconvenient, so plan ahead if you are hoping to visit.
The lounge is located just outside of Concourse D. After clearing security, I take an immediate right. If I go through the North Security Checkpoint, the lounge appears right after I exit.
From the South Security Checkpoint, it is about a 7 to 8-minute walk. For reference, it is located just past the MAC Cosmetics store and the nearby souvenir stands.
Lounge Hours
The Capital One Landing at DCA is open daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Breakfast is served during the morning hours, with a separate menu offered for lunch and dinner.
I have visited during both meal times and will share details on each experience later in this review.
Access And Entry Requirements

There are several ways to access the Capital One Landing at Reagan National (DCA):
- Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card holders receive unlimited complimentary access and can bring up to one guest for free.
- Additional guests cost $45 per person.
- Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card authorized users do not receive the same lounge access and guest privileges.
- Capital One Venture X Business card holders also enjoy unlimited access with one complimentary guest.
- Capital One Venture X Business authorized users do not receive lounge access.
- Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Spark Miles for Business card holders can purchase lounge access for $45 per visit.
- All other travelers can pay $90 per person to access Capital One Landings at Washington National (DCA).
Note: Capital One limits lounge access to no more than three hours before departure. However, if you are connecting through DCA, you can enter the lounge as soon as your inbound flight lands.
Check-In Experience (9/10)

As I approach the Capital One Landing, I am immediately greeted by a warm and welcoming receptionist. She smiles, makes eye contact, and sets a positive tone for the visit.
She asks for both my boarding pass and my physical Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card – I quickly learned that the mobile wallet version does not work for entry, so I always make sure to have the physical card with me.
Once she scans everything, a server promptly walks me to my table.
On my first visit, the server asks if it is my first time here and then gives me a quick but helpful tour. They point out key areas like the dining space, the beverage stations, and the restrooms.
This orientation makes the experience feel intuitive and easy from the start.
Before I leave, the receptionist hands me a small piece of Capital One–branded chocolate and wishes me a safe journey. It is a simple gesture, but it adds a personal touch that leaves a lasting impression.
That kind of thoughtfulness makes this lounge stand out right from the moment I walk in.
Layout And Seating (8/10)
The Capital One Landing at DCA shares its footprint with Capital One Landing “On the Fly”, a grab-and-go concept. The two sit side by side, with the main Capital One Landing experience occupying the right side of the space and taking up about 80 percent of the total area.
This section focuses on the full-service lounge experience offered inside Capital One Landing itself.
First Impressions And Hostess Greeting
As I walk up, I am greeted at the hostess stand, where I am either escorted to my seat or offered the choice to sit where I prefer, depending on how busy it is. To my right is the main dining room, and to my left is the bar area.
The overall design is stunning – Capital One blends rich wood finishes, earth tones, and elegant tile work to create an upscale yet calming environment.
Bar Area And Lounge Vibe

The bar area immediately catches my eye.
A beautifully arranged display of premium spirits lines the back wall. Behind the bar, there is a high-top communal table, followed by a row of single seats that overlook the terminal walkway – perfect for solo travelers or anyone wanting a bit of people-watching.
Just behind the hostess stand is the counter service area, which I will describe in detail in the food and beverage section.
Dining Room Design And Seating Options

The main dining room surprises me with how much seating it fits in without ever feeling crowded. Capital One has done a fantastic job of separating tables for individuals, couples, and small groups using subtle partitions and varied furniture arrangements.
Each seating area comes equipped with a personal power outlet and a small hook for bags or jackets – a thoughtful detail that adds convenience without compromising the design.
My favorite seats are by the large windows overlooking the tarmac. These spots are usually set aside for parties of two to four, but during slower times, I have been lucky enough to sit there solo.
The view is unbeatable – it is a dream for plane spotters.
Smart Storage And Convenient Charging
Capital One also includes dedicated luggage storage throughout the dining space. This is a small but important detail that really enhances the functionality of the room. I never feel like my carry-on is in the way, and I appreciate that the space is designed for real travelers.

Perhaps one of the most convenient features is the abundance of power outlets. No matter where I sit, I can easily charge my phone, laptop, or tablet. There has never been a time when I have had to search for an outlet or wait for one to free up.
For a lounge focused on comfort and usability, this detail is a home run.
Food And Beverage (9/10)
Since Capital One Landing feels more like a high-end restaurant than a traditional airport lounge, I arrive eager to explore the food.
I usually approach celebrity chef partnerships with caution, but I am genuinely excited when I learn that José Andrés, the renowned Spanish chef based in Washington, D.C., has curated the menu here.
Let me say this up front – this is the best food I have ever had in a U.S. airport lounge accessible with a credit card.
This lounge raises the bar.
How To Order: Easy And Efficient Table Service
There are two ways to enjoy the food.
The primary method is through a QR code placed at each table. After scanning, I can browse both the food and drink menus and place my order directly from my phone. About ten minutes later, everything is brought to my table.
The service is prompt and polished.
All food is served tapas-style, with small plates inspired by José Andrés’ Spanish roots.
The best part?
I can order as many plates as I want.
Every time I leave, I feel full and satisfied.
Breakfast Highlights
The breakfast menu blends American classics with Spanish flair. I start with a cappuccino that tastes like it was made by a trained barista – not a machine. Then I try the olive oil pancakes and eggs benedict with a side of bacon.
Both are flavorful and perfectly cooked.

Some of the standout Spanish breakfast items include:
- Toast Montaditos: scrambled eggs with Spanish ham
- Pincho de Tortilla: a traditional Spanish omelet
Before heading to my gate, I grab an iced coffee. It hits the spot, especially since I am in a bit of a rush.
Lunch And Dinner Highlights
Lunch and dinner are where Capital One Landing truly shines.
I begin with the grilled zucchini and piquillo peppers, drizzled with olive oil – light and flavorful, as well as a cocktail.
Then come the main dishes:
- Grilled Cheese: comforting, though not remarkable
- Croquettes: crispy and satisfying
- Steak: the absolute standout

The steak is tender, juicy, and cooked to a perfect medium-rare.
I enjoy it so much that I order it three times – do not judge me till you try it.
This might be the best lounge dish I have ever eaten. I truly hope it becomes a permanent fixture on the menu.
To end my meal, I treat myself to flan and an espresso martini, which is made just right – smooth and balanced, with espresso beans floating on top for that signature touch.

Counter Service: Quick And Quality Options
Right behind the hostess stand is the counter service area, which offers a range of grab-and-go items depending on the time of day.
Morning options include:
- Fresh-cut fruit
- Oatmeal
- Greek yogurt
- Nutella toast
- Pastries
- “Warrior bites” in the dessert section
I go for the Greek yogurt, which is light, refreshing, and packed with protein.

Lunch and dinner options include:
- Caesar salad
- Anchovies
- Charcuterie
- Various Spanish-style toasts
- Burnt Basque cheesecake
- More “warrior bites” for dessert

I take a risk and try the anchovies, and I am blown away by how fresh and flavorful they are. I also enjoy the Caesar salad and charcuterie meats, which are high-quality and satisfying.
Dietary Accommodations
Every food item is clearly labeled with dietary markers like gluten-free, vegetarian, or dairy-free.
While I cannot personally verify cross-contamination procedures, I find the staff to be attentive and responsive. If you have an allergy or dietary concern, I feel confident that they will guide you to a safe option.
From start to finish, the menu feels intentional, inspired, and elevated. The execution is flawless. I leave full, refreshed, and impressed.
Hats off to the chefs – Capital One Landing delivers a dining experience that truly belongs in a league of its own.
Amenities (7/10)
While Capital One Landing at DCA is not the largest lounge, it makes excellent use of its space.
Every feature feels intentional and designed with the traveler in mind. Although it does not include some of the extras found in larger lounges – like showers or dedicated business centers – I rarely feel like anything is missing.
Fast And Reliable Wi-Fi
One of the first things I check in any lounge is the Wi-Fi quality, and Capital One delivers.
The lounge offers a dedicated high-speed Wi-Fi network exclusively for guests. I receive the password at check-in, and the connection remains strong and consistent throughout my visit.
Whether I am streaming a video, uploading large files, or just catching up on emails, the speed is more than enough to stay productive.
As someone who often works during layovers, I really appreciate the reliability here.
Clean And Private Bathrooms
Capital One Landing includes two gender-neutral bathrooms located at the end of the hallway just past the counter service area. Both are spacious, clean, and well-lit, which is not always guaranteed in busy airport lounges.

The privacy and cleanliness of these restrooms add to the overall calm and comfortable atmosphere of the lounge. It is a small detail, but one that contributes to a more relaxed pre-flight experience.

Even though the lounge does not offer spa treatments, showers, or nap rooms, the essential amenities are well executed.
Cleanliness And Ambiance (9/10)
One of the things I consistently admire about Capital One lounges is their attention to cleanliness, and the Capital One Landing at DCA is no exception.
From the moment I enter, the space feels spotless, polished, and well-maintained. It is clear that cleanliness is not an afterthought here – it is a core part of the experience, all the way down to the self-serve area being spotless at every moment.

Impeccable Cleanliness And Staff Attentiveness
Throughout my visit, I see staff actively maintaining the space. They walk through regularly to clear used plates, wipe down tables, and reset seating areas.
Unlike other lounges where dishes may linger for too long, the team here works with impressive consistency and attention to detail.
The restrooms are just as well-kept. Every time I use them, they are clean, fully stocked, and odor-free.
These little touches might seem minor, but they add up and play a major role in making the lounge feel truly premium.
Calming Lighting And Peaceful Vibes
What really stands out to me is the soft, ambient lighting. It creates a warm and calming environment – far from the harsh fluorescent lights found in the terminal.
The lighting makes a real difference in how relaxed I feel, even during a busy travel day.
A Design That Feels Like A Boutique Restaurant
The ambiance here is unlike any airport lounge I have ever visited.
Despite being located in the middle of the terminal, the space somehow feels quiet and intimate. The lounge design, paired with the lighting and service style, makes me feel like I have stepped into a boutique restaurant – one that just happens to have a few rolling suitcases nearby.
The interior design blends modern aesthetics with cozy, welcoming touches. Think smooth curves, minimalist finishes, and neutral tones that create a clean yet comfortable environment. It feels upscale but not cold – refined yet approachable.
Crowd Levels And Comfort (7/10)

Like most airport lounges, the Capital One Landing at DCA sees its crowd levels fluctuate based on the time of day and flight schedules. Over several visits, I have experienced everything from a peaceful, nearly empty lounge to moments when nearly every seat is taken.
Capital One Lounge Reservation System
One of the most unique features here is the reservation system, which functions like making a table reservation at a restaurant.
Guests can reserve seats up to six months in advance, and there is no penalty for missing a reservation. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your spot is simply offered to someone on standby.
Only about half of the tables are reserved for bookings, leaving plenty of walk-up availability. However, I have seen a line form during peak times, which is why I now make a reservation as soon as I book my flight.
TPA Pro Tip: Make a reservation when you book your flight to guarantee a table and enjoy the experience without stress.
Comfort And Space
One of my favorite aspects of this lounge is that I have never had to share a table or couch with a stranger – something that unfortunately happens in many overcrowded lounges.
That extra breathing room goes a long way in creating a more relaxing, private experience.
Designed To Unwind, Not Work
While the space is extremely comfortable, it is not set up to be a full-on workspace. The soft lighting, cozy seating, and ambient noise make this lounge ideal for unwinding, not for grinding through back-to-back Zoom calls.
There are tables where I can check emails or review documents, but this is not a place I would choose for taking a video meeting or spending hours working on my laptop.
The overall vibe is peaceful and hospitality-focused, which is perfect for travelers looking to recharge before a flight.
Staff And Service (9/10)
One of the standout features of Capital One Landing at DCA is the incredible staff. From my very first visit, it is clear that the team takes great pride in the lounge.
Their professionalism and warmth help create a space that feels more like a high-end restaurant than a typical airport lounge.
Warm Welcomes
When I first arrive at the lounge, the hostess greets me with a smile and walks me through how the experience works. Since this lounge operates differently than most – more like a sit-down dining experience – her guidance is helpful and appreciated.
I never feel lost or unsure of what to do, even on my first visit.
Attentive Service Throughout
During every visit, I notice the same theme – the servers and bartenders are consistently attentive. They check in regularly, refill drinks, and make sure I have everything I need without hovering.
It is clear they are proud of the environment they work in, and that pride translates into outstanding service.
Even small touches, like a complimentary chocolate handed out at departure and a reminder to grab a box of water, add a layer of hospitality that feels genuine and thoughtful.
Going The Extra Mile
To give you a real sense of how great the service is, I want to share a quick personal story.
On one visit, I accidentally left my phone charger behind. I walk toward my gate and only realize it is missing a few minutes later. I quickly return to the lounge, hoping it might still be there.
To my surprise, the manager himself had already retrieved it. A server found it while clearing my table and gave it to the manager, who kept it safe in case I came back. When I explain what I am looking for, he immediately pulls it out and hands it over – smiling and happy to help.
That level of attention and kindness genuinely impresses me.
Bonus: Capital One Landing – On The Fly (8/10)

Capital One Landing On the Fly is a convenient extension of the main lounge experience, offering high-quality, chef-driven food in a quick-service format.
This area is located just next to the full-service Capital One Landing and is open to all airport passengers, regardless of credit card affiliation.
This concept was created as part of the agreement Capital One made with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which requested that part of the lounge space be open to the public.
Even though it operates as a separate grab-and-go counter, the food still carries the creative touch of Chef José Andrés, maintaining the same Spanish influences found in the main lounge.
What To Expect

While the hot food selection is not extensive, there are usually two to three sandwich options and two salads available. For travelers in a hurry, this setup works well.
The focus is clearly on quality over quantity.
There is also a refrigerated grab-and-go cooler with a wider variety of snacks, drinks, and light meals. Everything I have tried so far has been fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared – a far cry from the typical pre-packaged airport fare.
Exclusive Discounts For Capital One Card Holders
One of the best perks? Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Venture X Business card holders receive a 50% discount on all purchases made at On the Fly.
That benefit makes this one of the best value dining options in the airport, hands down.
My Go-To Order
I volunteer at DCA on Wednesday nights, and I have made it a ritual to stop by On the Fly before heading home. My usual order? The brisket sandwich and a decaf coffee – an admittedly unique combination, but it works for me!
The sandwich is a standout. The meat-to-condiment-to-bread ratio is perfect, and it is warmed to the ideal temperature. It might not have a long list of ingredients, but the execution is spot on.
Honestly, it is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had at an airport, and I cannot recommend it enough.
Final Thoughts
After multiple visits, I can confidently say that Capital One Landing at Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA) is in a league of its own.
From the moment I step inside, I feel like I am entering a thoughtfully curated dining experience – not just another airport lounge.
With exceptional food designed by Chef José Andrés, attentive and welcoming staff, and a peaceful atmosphere that rivals upscale restaurants, this lounge truly redefines what premium cardholder access can mean.
Add in details like dedicated Wi-Fi, plenty of power outlets, immaculate cleanliness, and smart crowd control via reservations, and it is easy to see why this space stands out.
Even the Capital One Landing On the Fly grab-and-go counter delivers real value, offering top-quality food with generous cardholder discounts. It is a go-to option when I need something quick without sacrificing flavor.
Capital One is not just competing in the lounge game – they are changing it. If you are flying through DCA and hold a Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, this is an absolute must-visit.
… and if you do not yet have the card, this lounge alone makes a compelling case to apply.
