I need to spend a night in Upper Manhattan, so my wife and I decide to stay at the Park Hyatt New York.
As a Globalist with World of Hyatt, I always try to book Hyatt properties – especially in an expensive city like New York.
For me, Park Hyatt is one of the most impressive luxury hotel brands in the world. The brand is known for its refined design, personalized service, and perfect locations.
Whenever I have a short trip – just one or two nights – I like to lean into luxury.
This is the perfect time to book a property like the Park Hyatt New York, where I can truly enjoy the high-end experience without needing a long stay.
This is a hotel where cash rates frequently climb well above $1,000 per night. Without Hyatt points, I almost certainly would never be able to stay here.
The Park Hyatt New York is one of my favorite city hotels. I consistently get excellent value for my points, and I always walk away impressed.
While other Hyatt hotels in New York may offer better redemption opportunities, the experience here is on another level. From the sleek architecture to the elevated service, this hotel is a standout.
For a special night in the city, I never hesitate to return.
Hotel Award Booking (7/10)

The Park Hyatt New York is a Category 8 property in the World of Hyatt program (as of 2025). Award nights range from 35,000 points during off-peak times to 45,000 points at peak, with the standard rate sitting at 40,000 points per night.
When I book my stay, the cash rate for a standard room is around $1,000 per night, which makes points a much smarter choice.
For this one-night visit, I redeem 40,000 Hyatt points at the standard rate. That is a significant number of points, but I see strong value here – especially when cash prices are so high.

Hotel Location And Public Transportation (9/10)
The Park Hyatt New York is located just one block south of Central Park in Midtown Manhattan and right around the corner from Carnegie Hall.
I find this location ideal.
It puts me right in the heart of the city, yet it feels slightly removed from the busiest tourist spots a few blocks to the south. It offers a nice balance between convenience and calm.
One of my favorite things about this location is how easy it is to get to Central Park for a morning run or bike ride. The park is only steps away, and it is one of the best urban spaces in the world to enjoy some fresh air and greenery.
If you are looking up directions, here is the exact address:
153 W 57th St
New York, NY 10019
Parking Options
The hotel offers both valet and self-parking. Each option costs $90 per night. However, if you are a Globalist staying on a free night award, the valet parking fee is waived.
Since the price is the same, I recommend using valet parking for the added convenience.
Public Transportation
Getting to the Park Hyatt New York using public transportation is simple if you are arriving by train. From Penn Station or Moynihan Train Hall, I take the A, C, or E subway lines. The A and C trains stop at 59th Street–Columbus Circle, and the E train stops at 7th Avenue.
From either station, it is a short two-block walk to the hotel.
Flying into the city takes a bit more planning. From LaGuardia Airport (LGA), I take the Q70 bus to the subway, then hop on the E, F, N, R, or W train toward Midtown. After that, it is a quick walk to the hotel.
From John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), I ride the AirTrain to Jamaica Station, then transfer to the E subway line. That line brings me straight to Midtown, where the hotel is only a couple of blocks from the station.
TPA Pro Tip: If you prefer to skip the subway and avoid juggling transfers, taking an Uber or taxi is a convenient option. From John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to the Park Hyatt New York, an Uber typically costs between $70 and $100, depending on the time of day and traffic.
Vibe And Atmosphere (8/10)
The Park Hyatt New York gives off an atmosphere of refined luxury from the moment I walk through the doors.

What stands out most to me is how the design reflects New York City’s place as a global style capital – not just in fashion, but in architecture and interior aesthetics.
The hotel blends modern elegance with timeless sophistication. I can only imagine how much marble and custom finishes went into building this space.
Every detail feels intentional.
The materials are clearly top-tier, with polished stone, sleek wood, and soft lighting creating a calm, upscale environment. It manages to feel luxurious without being flashy, which is a hard balance to strike.
The staff match the tone of the hotel perfectly. While they are not overly proactive, they respond to my requests with professionalism and care.
Every interaction feels polished.
I never feel rushed, and my needs are met with quiet efficiency. That kind of service helps set the Park Hyatt apart from many other luxury properties in the city.
Hotel Check-In (8/10)
When I arrive at the Park Hyatt New York, the doorman greets me with a warm welcome and opens the door for us. He points my wife and I toward the elevators on the left, which take us up to the main lobby on the third floor where check-in takes place.
At the front desk, a friendly attendant welcomes us and asks for my ID and a credit card. She quickly pulls up my reservation and thanks me for being a World of Hyatt Globalist.
Then she shares some great news – she upgrades us to a King Bedroom Studio Suite. It is a perfect fit for our one-night stay and definitely a nice way to begin the experience.
She reviews my Globalist benefits, including complimentary breakfast, and then hands over our room keys. From there, we head to the second set of elevators located to the right of the reception area and make our way up to our room.
Park Hyatt New York King Bedroom Studio Suite – Bedroom and Living Space (8/10)
As I step inside our King Bedroom Studio Suite at the Park Hyatt New York, I am immediately impressed. The design feels refined and elegant, with a layout that maximizes space and comfort in the heart of Manhattan.
The suite reflects the signature Park Hyatt blend of understated luxury and thoughtful functionality.
Upon entering, I walk down a long hallway that curves around the bathroom before leading into the bedroom and living space.

In this layout, the bedroom comes first, followed by the living area, which overlooks West 57th Street.
Living Space
At the end of the hallway, I find a full-length mirror to the right and a vintage-style chest that adds a touch of historic charm. This chest holds a safe, drawers, and even some fashion magazines – perfect for staying in tune with the latest New York style trends.
Continuing along the hallway, I come across two closets, the bathroom entrance, and the minibar area. One closet is simple, with hangers and space for luggage. The second closet contains a robe and ironing board. Both have mirrors inside the doors, which I find convenient.

The minibar follows the classic Park Hyatt city style, similar to what I have seen at the Park Hyatt Vienna or Park Hyatt Bangkok.

The cabinet doors open to reveal a Nespresso machine and complimentary room-temperature water. Inside the fridge drawer, there is a selection of cold drinks available for purchase, along with some snacks on the shelves above.
Moving through the bedroom, I enter the living space.
The two areas are separated by a partial glass divider, giving a sense of separation without closing off the space.
To my right, there is a curved sofa with an ottoman, and a large armchair with wooden arms. On the left, a desk with two chairs provides a comfortable setup for room service or remote work.

Above the desk, a TV is mounted – perfect for keeping up with the news in a city where financial updates move fast. The desk also includes several power outlets, which I always appreciate when charging my travel gear.
A small but thoughtful welcome amenity awaits on the desk: two crisp apples and a bowl of fresh ice.
The best feature of the suite might be the large, curved window that runs the full length of the room. It brings in plenty of natural light, even during my rainy stay.
I especially enjoy using the remote to open and close the full-length drapes – it is a fun, modern feature that adds to the experience.
Bedroom
Positioned between the bathroom and living space, the bedroom is spacious and serene.

A king-sized bed sits on the right, with a sleek TV positioned on a stand to the left. The bed is incredibly comfortable, and I wake up feeling refreshed after a restful night’s sleep.
Each nightstand is equipped with power outlets, making it easy to charge my phone and other essentials overnight. The soft carpet under the bed adds a cozy touch, making it pleasant to step onto in the morning.
While the TV in the bedroom is a bit small given the distance from the bed, the image is sharp and the sound quality is solid.

Considering the limited space in New York real estate, the layout feels spacious and luxurious. The Park Hyatt team clearly knows how to elevate a hotel stay with both form and function.
Park Hyatt New York King Bedroom Studio Suite – Bathroom (9/10)
The bathroom in the King Bedroom Studio Suite at the Park Hyatt New York is not the largest I have seen in a suite, but by New York City standards, it feels quite spacious.
Most importantly, it is exceptionally well-designed, blending function with luxury in a way that feels both elegant and practical.
When I walk in, the first thing I notice are the dual sinks with beautiful stone countertops. The lighting is soft yet effective, and there is a fun surprise – an in-mirror TV built directly into the space above the sinks.
It is a unique touch that makes getting ready in the morning a little more entertaining.
Directly across from the sinks sits a large, freestanding soaking tub. It is deep and wide, perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring the city.

On the far side of the bathroom are two private stalls – one for the toilet and the other for the massive shower. Both offer plenty of space and privacy.

The shower features a rainfall shower head and a handheld wand. The water pressure is strong, and the temperature reaches exactly the level I like. The bath amenities come from Bergamote and are individually bottled, which adds to the overall premium feel.
This bathroom may not be sprawling, but it makes excellent use of the space. Every element feels intentional and luxurious, turning even routine moments into something special.
Hotel Amenities And Facilities (9/10)
The Park Hyatt New York offers some of the most impressive amenities I have experienced in a city hotel.
From the saltwater pool to the state-of-the-art fitness center, every facility feels thoughtfully designed and well-maintained. Even after ten years, the hotel continues to invest in upgrades. The equipment looks new, and the spaces feel as fresh as the day they opened.
Every time I stay here, I make time to enjoy the hotel amenities. They are a major part of what makes this property stand out.
Interestingly, the hotel even offers gym and pool memberships through partnerships with local social clubs. These memberships reportedly cost around $800 per month, which speaks to the exclusivity and quality of the facilities.
I am not sure if they sell these to the public, but it would not surprise me if they do.
Pool
Located on the 25th floor, the saltwater lap pool is a relaxing retreat above the city. Surrounded by loungers and seating, it is a beautiful space to unwind. The pool is not open 24 hours, but there is a lifeguard on duty whenever it is available to guests.
This may be my favorite part of the entire hotel.

After a long day walking through Manhattan, spending the evening by the pool is the perfect way to relax. The views, the calm environment, and the luxury design all come together beautifully.
The pool area also includes a large hot tub and a spacious steam room. The hot tub is especially well-designed, with a mix of lounging and upright seating. I spend nearly an hour here, letting the jets soothe my sore legs.
The steam room is also a great place to relax. It even has a built-in shower. One tip – watch where you sit, as the bench does not run the full length of the room.
Gym
Just one floor above the pool, the gym at the Park Hyatt New York is well-equipped for all kinds of workouts.

It includes everything from cardio machines like treadmills and ellipticals, to a full weight training setup with dumbbells, a Smith machine, and even a Tonal digital fitness system.
The gym is clean, bright, and offers enough equipment to accommodate several guests at once.
Spa
Across from the pool sits Spa Nalai, the in-house Park Hyatt spa. It features two treatment rooms, each with its own steam room and shower, along with a full-service salon – Rossano Ferretti Parma.
Unfortunately, the spa is undergoing renovations during my stay, so I do not get the chance to experience it.
Breakfast (9/10)
Breakfast at the Park Hyatt New York is a true highlight of the stay.
As a World of Hyatt Globalist, I have the flexibility to enjoy my complimentary breakfast either in the hotel restaurant – The Living Room Restaurant & Bar – or through in-room dining. For this stay, I choose the comfort and convenience of having breakfast delivered to the room.
I call down in the morning to place our order, and about 30 minutes later, breakfast arrives on a well-dressed cart with a crisp white tablecloth.
The attendant sets it up for us in the room, has me sign the slip (gratuity is already included), and reminds me to call when I am ready to have the cart picked up.

Here is what my wife and I order:
- Pancakes with bacon
- Avocado toast with poached eggs
- Fresh fruit plate
- Orange juice and cranberry juice
- A pot of freshly brewed coffee
Everything is absolutely delicious.
The pancakes are fluffy and flavorful, paired perfectly with crispy bacon.
The avocado toast is toasted just right, and the eggs are poached so the yolk melts beautifully over the top.
The fruit is fresh, and the coffee is rich and hot – exactly what I need to start the day.
One small detail that stands out to me is the design of the coffee cups. They have a subtle vein running through the bottom, mirroring the neutral, elegant tones that flow throughout the decor of the hotel.
On-Site Dining (N/A)
In addition to in-room dining, the Park Hyatt New York also offers all-day on-site dining at The Living Room Restaurant & Bar, located just off the lobby. The space feels warm and stylish, and it looks like a great place to unwind with a meal or drink.
Since we are only staying for one night, I do not get the chance to try it out during this visit.
Staff And Service (6/10)
Service at the Park Hyatt New York is a bit of a mixed experience for me.
It is not that the staff are unfriendly or unwilling to help – in fact, everyone I interact with is polite and professional. However, I do not feel that the service reaches the level I expect from a luxury brand like Park Hyatt, which operates under the motto “Luxury is Personal.”
At other Park Hyatt properties, such as the Park Hyatt Maldives and Park Hyatt Vienna, I consistently experience staff who anticipate my needs without being asked.
At the Park Hyatt New York, the service feels more reactive than proactive.
For example, on the day of departure, it is raining.
I have my backpack and two rollaboard bags as I head downstairs to exit the hotel. Even though there are two doormen present, neither offers to open the heavy door for me nor helps arrange transportation.
I end up opening the door myself and flagging a taxi. Once I ask for assistance, they are happy to help, but I believe that at a hotel in this price range, I should not have to ask.
Luxury service should be one step ahead.
On a more positive note, turndown service is provided. Slippers are placed by the bed, and a bottle of water is set on each nightstand.
However, there are no chocolates or additional evening amenities that I sometimes find at other Park Hyatt locations.
Overall, the service is solid but not exceptional.
For a hotel where nightly rates often exceed $1,000, I believe there is room for the staff to elevate the experience by anticipating guest needs more consistently.
World of Hyatt Status And Benefits (8/10)
The Park Hyatt New York does an excellent job of recognizing my World of Hyatt Globalist status.
From the moment I check in, it is clear that elite members are valued here. I receive all of my expected benefits, and the process feels seamless and appreciated – not like I have to ask or remind anyone.
Here is a quick overview of the benefits I enjoy during my stay:
- Complimentary Globalist Breakfast. My wife and I order whatever we like from the in-room dining menu, and it is fully covered.
- Complimentary Suite Upgrade. I receive an upgrade to a King Bedroom Studio Suite at check-in, which adds a touch of luxury to our short stay.
- No Destination Fees. While many New York City hotels tack on annoying resort or destination fees, the Park Hyatt thankfully does not.
I get the sense that the Park Hyatt New York hosts many Globalists using points, and the hotel team does a great job honoring those benefits without hesitation.
It feels like a true win for the World of Hyatt loyalty program, and a big part of why I keep returning to Hyatt properties for both leisure and business travel.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I quite enjoy the Park Hyatt New York.
The architecture is stunning, the amenities are top-notch, and the location – just steps from Central Park – is one of the best in the city.
The hotel also does a great job recognizing Globalist benefits, from complimentary breakfast to generous suite upgrades.
The saltwater pool and spa facilities are among my favorite features, offering a peaceful escape high above Midtown. The rooms feel luxurious and well-designed, and even small touches like in-room coffee service and soft lighting help elevate the experience.
That said, the high award cost – at 35,000 to 45,000 points per night – means this is a true luxury redemption.
While I always enjoy my stay, I recognize that there may be better ways to stretch Hyatt points across New York City. Properties like The Beekman, A Thompson Hotel or Gild Hall, A Thompson Hotel often offer strong value at lower redemption levels.
Still, if you are looking to splurge for a special occasion, or want to experience one of the flagship urban Hyatt properties, the Park Hyatt New York is an excellent choice.
It brings together classic elegance, modern comfort, and a premium location – all things that make it worth considering for a memorable stay.
